When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required, 28Simeon took him in his arms and praised God, saying: 29"Sovereign Lord, as you have promised, you now dismiss[d] your servant in peace. 30For my eyes have seen your salvation, 31which you have prepared in the sight of all people, 32a light for revelation to the Gentiles and for glory to your people Israel."
33The child's father and mother marveled at what was said about him. 34Then Simeon blessed them and said to Mary, his mother: "This child is destined to cause the falling and rising of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be spoken against, 35so that the thoughts of many hearts will be revealed. And a sword will pierce your own soul too."
36There was also a prophetess, Anna, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Asher. 6 Solomon answered, "You have shown great kindness to your servant, my father David, because he was faithful to you and righteous and upright in heart. You have continued this great kindness to him and have given him a son to sit on his throne this very day.
7 "Now, O LORD my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David. But I am only a little child and do not know how to carry out my duties. 8 Your servant is here among the people you have chosen, a great people, too numerous to count or number. 9 So give your servant a discerning heart to govern your people and to distinguish between right and wrong. For who is able to govern this great people of yours?"
10 The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for this. 11 So God said to him, "Since you have asked for this and not for long life or wealth for yourself, nor have asked for the death of your enemies but for discernment in administering justice, 12 I will do what you have asked. I will give you a wise and discerning heart, so that there will never have been anyone like you, nor will there ever be. 13 Moreover, I will give you what you have not asked for—both riches and honor—so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings. 14 And if you walk in my ways and obey my statutes and commands as David your father did, I will give you a long life."

A truly wise person knows how to apply the wisdom God gave them. Choices in life seem endless.
We must analyze the situation to see what is best. If we make the choice based on our feelings; then we may be in for trouble. We need the wisdom of God to make right choices and do His will.

James 1:5

5If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him.

Wisdom is a gift to be used. How many of us have been given gifts by God to use for ministry, yet we hide them away at home?
Growing in Christ will increase our wisdom. Come and see the place where he lay. 7Then go quickly and tell his disciples: 'He has risen from the dead and is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him.' Now I have told you."
8So the women hurried away from the tomb, afraid yet filled with joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9Suddenly Jesus met them. "Greetings," he said. They came to him, clasped his feet and worshiped him. 10Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Stay here and keep watch with me."
39Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed, "My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from me. Yet not as I will, but as you will."
40Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. "Could you men not keep watch with me for one hour?" he asked Peter. 41"Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak."
42He went away a second time and prayed, "My Father, if it is not possible for this cup to be taken away unless I drink it, may your will be done."
43When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. 44So he left them and went away once more and prayed the third time, saying the same thing.
45Then he returned to the disciples and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? then we all run to the store for bread and water. Shouldn't we be prepared before the storm and already be stocked up. Much like the physical storms that threaten us; we'll all face spiritual storms. After we realize we need help (It takes longer for some of us than others) we try to run out and stock up on the Bread of Life and Living Water. I long to be prepared before the storm, but we never know which way the storm will blow us. In Jesus our anchor we'll never be in the storm longer than necessary. He's right there wherever we left Him ready to step in and master the wind. There is so much power in the name of Jesus. Just the mention of His name makes me smile. But let us focus on what is ahead, and how we can make a difference in our world. As the news reporters showed the year in review not one story was positive. Time seems to just slip through our fingers. As I look back over 2007 not all my stories were happy either, but I choose to focus on the good. Like the times I got to spend with my family, friends, and co-workers. The times when I laughed so hard, and ate so much I forgot all my troubles if only for a day. The times when God held my hand because I could not go on. The times when my co-workers came to my aid with a shoulder to cry on, a Dr. Pepper to drink, and my make-up compact so I'd be presentable to the world. All the times I spent at singings or church with family and friends.
I think of my niece and nephew and the future ahead of them. I pray they'll come to know Jesus as Lord of their life. I pray we all grow to be more like Jesus. We'll love deeper, forgive quicker, study the Word and pray harder than any year before. I pray that 2008 will be great!

Lamentations 3: 22-25

22 Because of the LORD's great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.
